We want to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities by raising awareness about disability issues, promoting the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities THROUGH SPORT, and encouraging participation in the E-Module.
The NCCP Coaching Athletes with a Disability is an eLearning module providing the knowledge to deliver quality, positive sport experiences for athletes, specifically those with behavioural, intellectual, physical, and sensory disabilities. It is a resource for coaches who are new to coaching athletes with a disability. Many coaches who are already working with athletes with a disability will also find the module useful.
This module will prepare you to develop inclusive sport experiences and to communicate effectively and respectfully with and about persons with a disability. After completing NCCP Coaching Athletes with a Disability, you will be able to:
Understand different disabilities in order to create a safe, welcoming environment
Expand perceptions about people with disabilities
Understand the basics of coaching people with disabilities
Apply relevant principles to adapt your coaching environment for people of all abilities
Understand that participation in sport is a right for people of all abilities and provides a range of physical and mental health benefits
Upon NCCP certification, PCD will re-imburse your Coaching Athletes with a Disability registration fee.
Limited Budget, Apply Early.
