September 19, 20, 21st Evenings 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm 2 hr sessions each night
Location: Valley Centre for the Arts, Fort Qu’Appelle
The artist will focus on two types of workshops: buffalo flags and buffalo parfleche art. Each evening begins with storytelling the history of the buffalo on the Plains, how Indigenous people lived with the buffalo and the importance of buffalo to sustaining Plains Indigenous people.
Wednesday Sept 19th: Buffalo Flag Art (children/family) max participants 15/evening
*children should have a caregiver/family member with them
Participants will paint or use washable color markers on a 5” x 7” canvas and paint/color a buffalo print. Each canvas flag will be stamped with the buffalo print. Tools/material provided: canvas flags, ribbon, safety pins and wooden dowel or willow sticks (seasonally dependent), acrylic paint/markers/paint brushes.
