Toolkit Workshop Series: Working with Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers with Angela Pratt January 9th 8:30am-12:00pm University of Regina Language Institute room 115
This session will help interested individuals to understand the cultural protocols involved when inviting an Elder or Traditional Knowledge Keeper to events. The general focus will be on the First Nations communities affiliated to File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council. It will provide a brief overview of cultural content necessary to understand when working through Indigenous issues, review sacred medicines, and offer some time to discuss and answer questions. It will help develop an understanding of FN culture based on diversity and respecting local cultural protocols.
This workshop will be led by Angela Pratt, who is the Economic Development and Business Advisor to FHQ Developments, which has the mandate of carrying on economic development business activities on behalf of the eleven Saskatchewan First Nation Communities in Treaty 4 territory. She is a member of the Muscowpetung First Nation and is also contracted by them to act as their Post-Secondary Education Coordinator.
