SaskCulture worked again this year with the Saskatchewan Districts for Sport Culture and Recreation (Districts) to offer the Culture Days Animateur initiative to Saskatchewan communities that have not previously held a Culture Days activity/event or have only participated once before. The initiative provides a $1,000 honourarium (inclusive of all costs) to a District in partnership with a community to hire a Saskatchewan artist or cultural worker to deliver an interactive, hands-on cultural activity during the Culture Days weekend. The Wynyard Art Nest qualified as the recipient for the Prairie Central District. Read about their Culture Days here
The Community Engagement Animateurs (CEA) are cultural workers who use their diverse and considerable skills to engage people in the cultural life within Saskatchewan communities. Each brings a unique perspective and creative background to offer engagement practices designed to get people talking, sharing, discovering, having fun and identifying ways to work together to build more culturally vibrant communities.
“In 2017, SaskCulture returned to a scaled-down version of the original Culture Days Animateur program. SaskCulture worked with Districts to identify communities that have never held Culture Days before and would welcome an Animateur as part of a first-time Culture Days experience.”
