The Prairie Central District for Sport, Culture and Recreation Inc.
The Prairie Central District for Sport, Culture and Recreation work with communities across central Saskatchewan to strengthen opportunities for people to connect, participate, and thrive.
Our vision is a district where inclusive sport, culture, and recreation enhance quality of life for everyone. Through partnerships, programs, and community support, we help create opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get involved, stay active, celebrate culture, and build strong communities.
We work closely with the people, programs, and initiatives of SaskSport, SaskCulture, and the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association to support and strengthen sport, culture, and recreation across our district.
Our work is guided by the values of adaptability, inclusion, integrity, relationships, and the many benefits of sport, culture, and recreation.
PCDSCR was formed in 2009 through the amalgamation of the Last Touch and Quill Plains Regional Recreation Associations and the Zone 5 Sports Council Inc.
We acknowledge that the Prairie Central District for Sport, Culture, and Recreation operates on the traditional territories of the Cree, Saulteaux, Dakota, Nakota, and Lakota Nations, and the homeland of the Métis. These lands are covered by Treaties 4 and 6, agreements that were made between Indigenous peoples and the Crown. We recognize the deep connections of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples to this land, and we honor their contributions, wisdom, and enduring presence in our communities.
As an organization, we strive to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where sport, culture, and recreation serve to enhance the quality of life for all individuals. We are committed to fostering an equitable space for everyone, guided by respect, collaboration, and reconciliation, while embracing the rich cultural heritage and diversity of the Indigenous peoples of this region.
This acknowledgment ties in both the land acknowledgment with the specific treaties and the mission of Prairie Central District, emphasizing the commitment to inclusivity and respect for Indigenous peoples and their connection to the land.
